Eric Bland
(Artistic Director, Co-Founder)
Eric Bland co-created the Old Kent Road Theater in 2005 and has thus far written all of its shows. He has a degree in Creative Writing from Princeton University and recently received an M.A. in Writing for Performance from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Previous productions and readings of Eric’s work include The Way that One Arrives (Young Playwrights Festival, Horizon Theatre, Atlanta), Mock the Knife (2003 New York International Fringe Festival), The Great Americano (The Red Room, NY), Swing State (Battersea Arts Centre, London), Das Brat (2006 Midtown International Theatre Festival), and the twin-bill The Bad Bruise of Billy MacBean/The Gringo of the Deli Acapulco (UNDER St. Marks, NY). The Gringo of the Deli Acapulco also appeared in the competitive Wonderland Festival (Theatre Row, NY) and was a semi-finalist out of over fifty plays presented. Eric has also co-directed two musical theater revues at Princeton and production-assisted for Richard Maxwell's innovative New York City Players company. In May he presented the short play I Felt So Free at The Brick Theater in Williamsburg as part of the Ontological-Hysteric Theater’s Incubator program (Tiny Theater! Festival). He presented two other plays at The Brick: The Children of Truffaut and Mother Mary Come to Me.

Scott Eckert
(Technical Director, Co-Founder)
Scott Eckert co-founded The Old Kent Road Theater in 2005. In addition to performing in several OKRT shows and acting as the group's Technical Director, he recently made his directing debut with Mother Mary Come to Me. His other New York theater credits include several two-person comedy shows written and performed with Ellie Kemper: Dying Breaths, Death and/or Despair, a deux, RIVAL, At The End of The Day, and Scott & Ellie. Scott performs weekly with his improv group, Big Black Car (2006 CIF Selection; Best Improv Group, 2005 ECNY Awards) at the People's Improv Theater, where he also teaches improvisational comedy. Scott was paid a (very) small amount of money to appear in Comedy Central's CONTROL FR3AKS.

Charlie Hewson
Charlie Hewson is a young actor living in Brooklyn who has been involved with Old Kent Road Theater Co. since before it was a Theater Co. at all. "Charlie" in In Big Cities We are Sentimental marks his fourth role with the company, and he hopes for many future collaborations. His film and TV credits include The Nanny Diaries and Law & Order. Abernathy Bland
(Art Designer)
Abernathy Bland is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a degree in Studio Art and concentrations in both sculpture and painting. She is the recipient of the 2005 Melchers Gray Purchase Award and the 2005 Emil Schnellock Award For Excellence in Painting. She is thrilled to be designing and creating work for the Old Kent Road Theater as the theater's resident Art Designer. Her theatrical resume also consists of work from productions including: As You Like It, Stage Door, Kindertransport, Antigone,and Seussical: The Musical. Her work for the Old Kent Road Theater can be seen both inside and outside the theater. You can visit Abernathy's website, which includes a portfolio of her work.
